Just as nature abhors a vacuum, so does emotional healing. Take no action, ignore the problem, and you might feel as though you’ve healed—or at least convince yourself you have. But more often than not, what’s actually happened is the pain has been buried, leaving behind seeds for future troubles to take root.
Healing is not passive. It requires honesty, courage, and sometimes a willingness to face discomfort. But perhaps most importantly, it requires intuition—that quiet inner knowing that nudges us toward truth and wholeness.
Intuition doesn’t live in a vacuum. It ebbs and flows with our willingness to engage with our experiences. It stirs when we ask the deeper questions and take even the smallest actions toward change.
By my definition, intuition is the act of using our past—our knowledge, our wounds, our triumphs—as a foundation to seek out guidance. It’s the internal compass that pushes us to research, reflect, and take aligned steps toward a better future.
Think of someone adrift in the ocean, seeing only deep blue water in every direction. Yet, by studying the patterns of the waves or the behavior of birds, they sense that an island may be near. Intuition helps them navigate toward that protective harbor—even when logic says there’s no land in sight.
Healing often requires a detour. We may need to step backward before we can move forward. That doesn’t mean we’ve failed. It means we’re doing the real work of transforming.
We can’t change the past—no matter how much we may wish we could. But we can learn from it. Grow stronger because of it. Use it as a landmark as we move forward through life.
This idea is why I’ve always loved the Tapestry episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation. In it, the past is not a mistake to be erased but a vital thread in the tapestry of life. Without the hardship, the growth and strength wouldn’t exist.
So if you’re in the middle of healing, listen to your intuition. Trust that you already have wisdom within you. You’re not starting from nothing. You’re starting from experience.
✨ Healing is not linear, but it is beautiful. Keep going.
